Extremity tissue expansion.

The gradual mechanical distention of tissues in the extremities using inflatable balloons allows elimination of local defects or expansion of known extremity donor sites to facilitate other reconstructive requirements. Complication rate are higher for extremity tissue expansion, and proper caution must be adopted if this concept is to be valuable for applications in the extremities.
