Volume Retention of Folded Dermal Graft After Augmentation Rhinoplasty.
Abstract
This study investigates the efficacy of folded dermal grafts in augmentation rhinoplasty to address the high resorption rate associated with dermofat grafts. The retrospective analysis included 14 patients who underwent the procedure between January 2020 and December 2021, with follow-ups extending beyond 12 months. Ultrasonography and 3D photogrammetric analysis were used to assess graft resorption, dorsal augmentation volume, and nasal tip height. Results indicated significant resorption of the folded dermal graft within the first 6 months postoperatively, with a 38% decrease in vertical height. Despite this, the volume change of dorsal augmentation remained minimal, and the nasal tip height showed a slight decrease, stabilizing after 6 months. The study suggests that folded dermal grafts provide satisfactory aesthetic outcomes when resorption rates and volume changes are considered preoperatively. Limitations include a small sample size and the exclusion of certain patient demographics, indicating a need for further research with larger, more diverse populations.
