Plastic surgery is a very visible field for which there is a diverse patient population with a diverse set of psychopathologies. At times, the psychiatric traits of the patient may interfere with the perioperative process and postoperative success. The clinical consultation presents an opportunity to identify certain signs and/or behaviors that may predict poor postoperative outcomes. It is imperative that the surgeon and medical staff are aware of these features so as to ensure appropriate selection of surgical candidates.
