Abstract

This article provides an overview of the signs, symptoms, and features of 4 personality disorders frequently encountered in cosmetic surgery settings. It highlights the unique challenges that these personality profiles can present throughout the surgical process. The authors also offer practical recommendations for providers aimed at enhancing decision-making by assessing motivations and expectations, navigating complex interpersonal dynamics, and managing potential postoperative difficulties. By equipping surgeons with these tools, the article seeks to improve patient outcomes and reduce the risk of dissatisfaction or issues that can arise from ignored psychological factors.
