A Surgical Strategy Combining Modified Park Double Eyelid Surgery and Flying-Tail Incision: Technique and Outcomes in Upper Eyelid Skin Laxity.
Abstract
[OBJECTIVE] This study introduces and evaluates a novel surgical strategy combining modified Park double eyelid surgery with the flying-tail incision technique for managing upper eyelid skin laxity.
[METHODS] A cohort of 60 individuals diagnosed with upper eyelid skin laxity who underwent surgical treatment at the Department of Ophthalmology, Huai'an Huai'an Hospital, between January 2020 and June 2024, was included in this study. Participants were randomly assigned to either the control group (n = 30), consisting of individuals who received modified Park double eyelid surgery alone, or the experimental group (n = 30), comprising individuals who received modified Park double eyelid surgery combined with the flying-tail incision technique. Clinical outcomes, perioperative parameters, palpebral fissure measurements, and postoperative complication rates were compared between the two groups.
[RESULTS] The experimental group demonstrated significantly improved clinical outcomes compared with the control group ( P < 0.05). The combined surgical strategy demonstrated superior clinical outcomes with shorter recovery times and lower complication rates, while effectively improving palpebral fissure dimensions.
[CONCLUSION] The combined modified Park and flying-tail incision strategy was associated with favorable surgical outcomes in individuals with upper eyelid skin laxity. This approach effectively improved eyelid laxity, facilitated postoperative recovery, and reduced complication rates while maintaining a favorable safety profile.
