Role of Selective Neck Sutures in Face Lifts.
Abstract
Several strategies have been proposed to prevent hematomas and improve cervical contour in face lifts. One such strategy is the use of selective neck sutures. This article presents 3 surgical techniques to place selective sutures in face lift operations as an adjunct to intraoperative hemostasis and aid in neck contour. By promoting tissue adherence, these sutures aid in closing dead space, minimize serous collection, and aid in prompting early drain removal. The use of these sutures in addition to previously published strategies is an effective means to minimize the risk of hematomas in face lifts and aid in improving cervical contour.
