Abstract

Facial feminization surgery encompasses a range of procedures aimed at providing gender-affirming transformations of the facial skeleton and soft tissue for transgender women. The performance of these procedures has increased in recent years, and several states have expanded insurance coverage for gender-affirmation surgeries. Facial feminization is generally considered safe and well-tolerated; however, there is a paucity of large studies examining complication rates and post-surgical issues. Here, the authors describe the first reported case of a parasymphyseal mandibular fracture after sliding reduction genioplasty and bilateral mandibular body reduction osteoplasties in a 52-year-old transgender woman. The mandible fracture was treated with closed reduction, and the patient made a good recovery.
