Abstract

[CASES] Two cases of massive knee defects in patients with contraindication to total knee arthroplasty are reported. The ipsilateral talocrural joint (TCj), along with a segment of the distal tibia, was transferred to reconstruct the knee and proximal tibia bone defect. The donor defect was reconstructed with a contralateral free fibula flap. Range of motion of the reconstructed knee was good. Both patients could walk painlessly without aid. No degenerative changes were seen at the last follow-up.

[CONCLUSION] Autologous vascularized reconstruction of the knee joint using the TCj is achievable with good midterm results.
