Triangle-Shifting Genioplasty with Bone Graft to Correct Chin Asymmetry.
Abstract
[UNLABELLED] The chin plays a very important role in facial aesthetic harmony and balance. The value of this area in the aesthetic perception of the face is well known. Chin size, shape, and symmetry can determine the lower third proportions and the mandibular border profile. In the present study, we focus on chin asymmetry using a new surgical method, triangle-shifting genioplasty with bone graft. Herein, we describe our new surgical technique for correcting asymmetry of the chin by making a triangular osteotomy in the chin region and shifting this bone fragment. This technique requires bone grafting, but the necessary bone can be harvested from the same surgical field. Our method is designed to correct small chin deviations; however, it is unsuitable for the correction of large deviations.
