Perioperative Management of Microsurgical Correction of Facial Deformity Following Radiotherapy.
Abstract
Radiotherapy is essential for achieving and maintaining local control in head and neck rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS) patients. However, radiotherapy may cause outgrowth disturbances of facial bone and soft tissue, resulting in facial asymmetry. This article reports a 24-year-old male patient presented with a history of right facial RMS, leaving post-radiotherapy facial deformities. The perioperative management of reconstructive microsurgery for facial deformities involves considerable complexities. This article addresses the perioperative strategies employed in this case to mitigate the risk of surgery-associated complications.
